Harry grew up in the overcrowded city of San Francisco in a time when the barriers that were holding back magic had
shattered.  It was a world where the creatures of legend and fantasy lived next to man, where technology and magic flourished
side by side.
He was trained since his earliest years to be a company security guard, like his father before him.  As the son of a corporate
man he was given everything any child could want.  His life was sure to be filled with ease, and then the big fall came.  His
father lost his position with the company and his mother left them.  He was forced to grow up hard and fast.  At the age of 18
he got a job as a company security guard and soon made his way up the rank to security chief.
Harry always liked games, the more dangerous the better.  He began toying with magic, and magic soon showed him the error
of his ways.  After his lesson in humility, he began to study magic and the supernatural.  He soon learned to leave magic alone
and maybe the magic would leave him alone too.
In the year 2196 Harry was transferred to Mega Corporations, “The World Government” as head of security.  The corporate
head said that he had a fine reputation for one so young, and that they expected great things from him.  The  corporate bigwig
wasn’t the only one keeping an eye on Harry.
The corporate head’s daughter liked big, strong men and Harry was close enough.  When the boss found out, Harry got lucky;
he got out with his life.  He took his pension out in damages.
After five years as a freelance detective, he got a call to go to a very old house on the edge of the city, the house of the Master
Mage of San Francisco.  The magic man wanted to hire Harry to look for a book.  The next thing Harry knew he was in the
past, in the year 2010.
Being a born survivor, he quickly learned the way of today’s world, and to make a living as a PI.  Harry, you don’t know why
or how, but you think if you can find the book, it’s your ticket home.  You want to go home.  You had a date with a very
friendly wood nymph.

                                                                       The lead into the game.

WHOOPS!  You’re back in the Master Mage’s office.  From the clock on the desk you’ve been gone about an hour.  The
mage smiles appreciatively and says, “It’s good to see that you live up to your reputation.”  You see the book on his desk and
when he gives you your paycheck, your cyber-eye almost pops out.  You rush home, ready to put your pay to good use.
Part of the money goes to the landlord for the last three months’ rent.  The rest of it, you vow, is going to make a particular
wood nymph very happy, and hopefully very friendly.
You start out of the door of your apartment for your date.  The Mage is standing in the hall with his arms crossed and a very
disagreeable look on his face.  “Lovecraft, back on the clock!” he bellows.  “You gave me a fake!”
You start to protest.  A little slack…  You have a date…  The wood nymph…  Just an hour…The Mage is less than
sympathetic.  He even smiles when he says, “Find my book, I’ll go on the date.”  WHOOPS!  You’re back office in the year
2014.  You remember why you hate magic!
